Well, many of you won’t know the details behind this truly beautiful score and this man, but he passed away in an airplane crash performing stunts in it. Tragic indeed, and very heartbreaking news when I heard it. I even cried. I had thought this was James’ last recorded score, but thankfully, I was wrong. As a gift, he scored (based off the script for the upcoming remake) ‘The Magnificent Seven’ which is to be released in January of 2017. Whether or not they use any of James’ material, we will probably not know, but one can hope they will. The score is glorious, apparently. And so is this one.
I plan on purchasing this on CD, and I hope that you’ll all do the same, because, when James was approached by the director about scoring the film, the director had told him that he had no money. James said not to worry about the money, (after viewing the film) he loved the film and the father-daughter relationship in it. He scored the entire film for free, and paid his team out of his own pockets. What an amazing man. This man deserves a round of applause when you see his name come up in the End Credits. This will always be one of my favorite memories or Mr. James Horner.
God bless his family.
