13–14 years ago, Kutless, once a cool alt-metal/hard rock Christian band, sunk into the mire of CCM and its dullness and repetition, and never came out. There was a feeble attempt at being more like they used to on 2015’s Surrender, but they were too deep in the CCM muck. Enter Words of Fire, which has shocked me with how hard rock it is. And now, behold, End of the World featuring Disciple, which might be the heaviest song they have ever written. They sound great doing it too, no longer neutered as they were! A new album is on the horizon, and for the first time in a while I look forward to Kutless! Don’t let us hard rock era fans down!
