I remember seeing an interview with Petty back in the early 80's where he claimed to be one of the last of the "real rock 'n rollers." He backs it up (yet again) here. Great to hear an artist doing what he wants .... and doing it well.

If you don't like this album, it's your fault. You should do a little research before making a purchase, expecting it to be something else, then blaming the artist for your ignorance. I'm specifically talking about the reviews that complain this album is too country. Your fault, not his.

I found this album after searching for "I Don't Scare Easy"'; one the the songs that plays during the end credits of the movie "Appaloosa". An outstanding "Western" starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen, Jeremy Irons and Renee Zelweiger. I couldn't find the song even though I knew it was Tom Petty. Nobody else on the planet sounds like him. After about ten minutes searching iTunes I found out that he had previously been a member of "Mudcrutch" and low an behold there it was. I then sampled the rest of the songs and wow! If you like "I Don't Scare Easy" and the rest of the songs on this album and you haven't seen "Appaloosa" you are in for a major treat! If you don't like "Westerns" I'm pretty sure you'll still love "Mudcrutch". Oh yeah; by the way, I can't wait to hear this on my motorcycle this summer when I'm on a long trip with the rest of my riding buds!

This album says a lot about Petty, wanteing to get back together with these guys. When some artists get big they forget all about who helped them in the beginning. Awsome collection of music.

It's great that Tom Petty has picked up Mudcrutch 30 years later and made a debut album it is truly great. It's definitly one of the best albums of 2008 and I think it's a little underrated. Don't listen to these crap bands today like Jonas Brothers, get this, you will not be sorry.

It is a shame that this band had to break up in the 70's before they had a chance to really get started. I think Mudcrutch would have been huge. Oh well, I am glad that they finally got to make this album. It rocks!

Tom Petty has done something different from the hearbreakers, and released mudcrutch. I think this is one of his best albums. It's also good to see petty play bass, last time he did was with the travelling wilburries. I think this album is worth your time and money.

Love this album! It's exactly what you'd expect from Tom Petty, just hit play and you'll love listening to the entire album start to finish, over and over again! Love the bonus tracks and videos also! Highly recommend this album to anyone who loves a nice variety of rock tunes.

If you like Petty, you will probably like this. A little "twangy" for me at times, but I do like it for the most part...
