My older brother introduced me to the whole P-Funk era when I was in middle school. I had never heard bass played like this before. I remember my only x-mas gift that year was a Fender student jazz bass. I have not stopped playing since.

While I only have a few funk albums, I love this record. Funk relies on a strong bass line, and Bootsy at his best was the greatest bass player in the genre. He also had a great sense of humor, lots of enthusiasm, and a strong supporting band. No one would rave about his singing, but what he does is perfect for the material. As with most of Clinton's material in the mid-70s the songs are fun and funky, playing with words. Rarely taking them seriously, but keeping that funky beat in mind all the time.

This is, without question, the best Bootsy Collins album ever. It is simply mind-boggling what a genius bootsy really was. Ever single song grabs ahold of you and funks you in a way you thought not possible. If there is anybody else out there like me who needs funk to function in life, this is your bread and water. You need to buy this album. If you can only afford to get a song or two, get Munchies for Your Love. The song will give you an orgasm. This whole album needs to be put on a pedestal and given its own religion, because Bootsy is the son of god and The Funk is almighty!
