Very nice album..... $14.99 is not realistic for itunes...the prices should be dropping to $7 - $8 per album don't force music lovers to seek free music on the internet... let them supoort the artist by making the price real.

I listened to the track titled moonlight sonata which is one of my favorite songs. Being a classical and jazz practitioner i honestly feel that the track didnt have any emotional impact on me. I wasnt sure if it was jazz or classical music i was listening to. I think Mr Redman is a technically proficient artist but sounds to me like he doesnt stretch out during his songs because he doesnt get that concept or because hes not a risk taker. During one NPR interview he said that he didnt concentrate on making his music accessible which i find laughable since his album is on itunes at a jacked up price of 14 dollars. On second thought maybe he doesnt want it to be accessible which explains the price. At any rate he also said he wasnt so much focused on that or on entertaining people. Well Mr. redman you have achieve both. I would say that jazz started as a dance music. I would say jazz started out of a people's desperate need to have their voices heard in spite of their condition. In my humble humble opinion Mr Redman having heard you in person and on recordings i dont feel that intensity in your music. Just my opinion. Ill keep listening.
Pretty Darn Good

Its really exciting to see Redman being progressive and trying new things. The double trio format is a great concept and the musicians are incredible. Most of the compositions are solid and there are some really interesting moments throughout the album. My only critique is that Redman sometimes seems to restrain himself as he builds towards soloing with abandon. If Redman would let himself go at the apex of some of his solos, this would probably be a five star effort.
A nice follow up...

It is very exciting to hear Joshua grow as an artist through the years. This album is a very nice follow up to BackEast. The double trio format is very interesting and gives a different sound and feel to the music. Gotta love the bop-centered tunes of "Hutchhiker's Guide" and especially "Round Reuben".
Cheaper

Rhapsody has it for $11.99 encoded in 256kbps. Oh, but you don't get the digital booklet.

Redman should go back to his original instrument: the piano. He was quite talented. I wish he would give up on this horns stuff already, and return to his roots.
