Impossible You Say?

This is just a teriffic piece of music and a great recording. I have to echo what Melanie Dudek wrote. I saw Carolina Crown in Denver in July and was blown away by the show. After I bought this I was even more impressed. Glass is just brilliant and this is one of his best works. Ever.

Music for autistics

This is fascinating and pathological. There is genius at work here, but it is the cold, unemotional genius of an autistic savant. Is it a coincidence that some of the "libretto" (if it can be called that) was written by the autistic companion of Robert Wilson? This music reminds me of an autistic child's fascination with a record stuck in a groove or with the turning-turning of clothes in a clothes dryer. Its novelty and technically brilliant composition technique is the fascinating part. Beyond that, it is an abyss in which nothing remotely, non-pathologically human can be found.
Eh…

The 1993 version is much better.
