When I catch myself listening to reggae albums, it is usually the same artists I have been listening throughout the years since I have not been able to come across something different while quenching my reggae thirst. Most artists these days seem to sound identical to each other with out any distinction...this album is a sigh of relief! I came across Taj's music through a friend and I have passed it down to other reggae lovers. His unique voice with his simple yet soothing melodies can captivate any listener! WORTH EVERY PENNY
Taj Weekes, A Waterlogged Soul Kitchen

My favorite album by Taj Weekes and Adowa so far! A Waterlogged Soul Kitchen, which was given to me by a friend, is such a great blend of songs to wake up and go to sleep to. The combination of "Janjaweed", "Rain, Rain", and "Anthems of Hope" have become a part of my morning routine but the entire album is dynamic in its content and speaks to a variety of different emotions. Adowa's catchy melodies get me energized and Taj's soulful voice is healing and the lyrics, which speak to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, keep me grounded. A must hear for 2011... You will not be disappointed!

If you're familiar with Taj Weekes then you already know what to expect. If not prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Taj and his band Adowa have put out another incredible roots reggae album. The music of A Waterlogged Soul Kitchen is beautiful and progresses naturally from their last album Deidem. Taj's voice reflects the sincerity of his lyrics. He speaks a conscious truth that is thoughtful, intelligent and at times challenges the listener to do just that, listen. If you are a fan of roots reggae, this album, along with his previous two, Hope and Doubt, and Deidem, are must have. They are easily the best collective roots repertoire by an artist in the past few decades. Their is little doubt why Taj is compared in his art and his presence to the great Bob Marley. While that may seem a bold comparison, to any fan that has heard these albums, or seen Taj and Adowa live it is hard not to draw a songline between the two. This is no imitation however, Taj brings his modern and personal sense to the classic sound. If you've found yourself waiting in vain for the return of an undeniable force in the tradition of great roots reggae wait no longer, Taj Weekes is your answer. Are you ready for the Heavy?
