I stumbled upon these guys after hearing a live performance of Movement and Location and absolutely fell in love with them! The Punch Brothers are bluegrass with a wonderful alternative twist, bringing to mind bands like Radiohead and The Strokes. I'm not even a fan of Radiohead, but these guys take the best aspects of these types of bands and add a bluegrass flare. It's impossible to describe how wonderfully complex their songs are, you just need to sit back with a pair of headphones and just soak it all in. Off this album I'd recommend Movement and Location, This Girl, NYC, and Who's Feeling Young Now?, but honestly this whole album shines. This is a must buy!

I cannot describe this band's brilliance! The sound is folksy perfection and the music is different and interesting and surprising in the best way. Chris Thile's voice is amazing, and his mandolin playing makes me feel privileged just to be able to listen. The band is all-around so magnificent and resonant - i can't stop listening :).

This album is just another solid piece of work from these guys. Thile's pop-sounding voice along with the excellent bluegrass musicianship is why I keep coming back.
Best One Yet!

I came upon the Punch Brothers via Pandora. I immediately bought this album, and I sat on my couch and listened to the entire album start to finish. This album is beautifully written. There are surprises throughout with gorgeous vocal and instrumental sound. There's so much talent on this album that it takes my breath away. BUY THIS ALBUM

Great album, loved it!!! To Those giving the one and two star ratings... Are we serious right now? Kirk why don't you explain to me what a "Christian Boy" voice is? If they were trying to go after the hipster crowd, he would start singing like Marcus Mumford. You all need to remember most of these guys (punch bros)have been playing bluegrass since they were 6-7 years old. Tell me how many of your music tastes have changed in the past 5 years? Hell, even 1-2 years! My guess is quite a bit. So get off on the whole I wish they sounded like early albums. They're world class musicians, and world class musicians are always pushing boundaries.
Stunning! Ravishing! A real Treat

These guys played at my school and shocked me into silence. They have such chemistry as a band, and you can tell they absolutely love playing with each other. How rare is that!? Probably not really, but still they are truly stupendous. This album is one of a kind. There is absolutely no way for me to pick a favorite song, because all are so grand. Wow, wow, wow.
Stagnant bla

Not a fan. Chris Thile still carries that christian boy quality in his voice, which I'd hoped would become a thing of the past with maturity. His music is evolving beautifully, but my main complaint is that his voice remains stagnant. He does not seem to work at all on his voice, and it needs a complete makeover. Not comfortable with what I'm hearing. It's just bla, in my opinion. NEXT!
