I am here for two reasons. #1: I had the tremendous fortune to hear this concert performed live and have been waiting for months now to download this album as a . . . sort of souvenir. And #2: the King's Singers are simply the best. There are only six of them; some of the tracks do not even feature their full forces. Yet they produce a sound dynamic and symphonic enough to pride a whole choir. It is full and filling. And FULfilling! Their tone is immaculate, as is their ensemble cohesion. And their RANGE! Wow! Part of what makes their sound so full is the great span between David Hurley's highest high and Jonathan Howard's lowest low. Quite simply, the sound of the King's Singers is the complete vocal package. The musical journey of Pater Noster is the perfect way to exhibit this unique sound of theirs. Over the course of the concert, the King's Singers highlight quite a contrast of works from an array of composers and styles over the span of centuries, yet still united with the common subject matter of Lord's Prayer. It is a beautiful journey from start to finish, and one of the most spectacular parts of it is hearing how different composers have treated this same theme throughout the years. It is an excellent display of the Singers' mastery, flexible throughout styles yet always interesting throughout this common theme. For $7.99, this is a great deal for what makes a tremendous next chapter in the line of recordings by the true Kings of Singing.
