Domingo as a Verdian Baritone.
By SeeGonzalez
Placido has had an amazing career and no one say otherwise. He's been able to take on 140+ roles in not only the standard repertoire but new and obscure works as well.
This album is his last segment of his illustrious career and his jump primarily into Verdian Baritone roles. I was able to see him in Traviata as Germont and he definitely brings a new color into the his Verdi roles. Not harsh and strong but lonely and helpless.
Said that, this album may not be for everyone. Stay away if you want a new Verdi Baritone cd but pick it up if you want to hear a new spin on the classics.
If your tempted to hear more before you plunge in, hear his Rigoletto's "Cortigianni..."
