One of the great trumpet albums of all time. G. Schwarz is a true musician and master of the instrument. Bolcom's playing is spectacular. A must for your brass album collection.

I first heard selections from this CD almost 20 years ago on the radio via the old NY City classical station WNCN. What an impact it made on me! All of the performances are quite fine, but it's Gerry Schwartz who really shines here. His "Carnival of Venice" is superb, but it's his renditions of "Maid of the Mist" and "Sounds from the Hudson" that truly demonstrate how muich of a master he really was. Kudos to Ron Barron on the Pryor piece, and to William Bolcom who adds just the right amount of finesse and lilt to his accompaniment. Bravo!!
