I just wanted to thank Alan for "El Abrazo" and everything he has done with it. For anyone who does not know, El Abrazo was written in memory of Shane Albaugh who went to my high school. He died suddenly before his senior year before he would have our band program's president as well as lead trumpet in our jazz and concert bands. Alan wrote this piece for our band - I was fortunate enough to premier it as well as play it three or four other times throughout my high school career. This piece means so much to all of us and especially to our director who was Shane's personal mentor. I thank Alan so much for the song and everything he has done with it; it shows Shane's spirit so well. Thank you for doing all you have done for us.

This, the 3rd release by the DC-area based ABJO is their best so far. Great arrangements, tight ensemles, great soloing make for a great listen. If you are a fan of Goodwin's BPB, you will love this group. Fresh arrangements of some classics and great new charts by Alan Baylock make this a must buy for any big band jazz fan. No Glenn Miller charts here, to be sure. This band smokes! Having the ageless wonder, Doc Severinsen, as guest artist is just icing on the cake.
