Syd Barrett’s lyrics about a transvestite are refreshing and bold, enough so that the BBC banned the song. However, without Syd’s brave new foray into songwriting, there would be no Floyd. Although his time with the band was short, his influence remained, and they never sparkled quite the same without him.
