Very great album I would recommend to everyone

In a brilliantly constructed Oratorio, Mohhamed Fairouz brings to life the narrative of a group of people who have become the victims of war. They are stowed away in a shelter, uncertain that their confines will keep them safe from the treacherous symphony of bombs outside. A lone blogger, Dawoüd (David) begins writing feverishly by candlelight, hoping that his words will somehow take flight and tell the world of their plight. With the help of Jibreel (Gabriel) and the other survivors, he manages to cry out as the bombs finally engulf them all. Though the sound is deafening, the cacophony cannot quench the voices rising up for their final triumphant hymn.

"Do they know how much it hurts to see our parents die before our eyes?" This oratorio is extraordinary, from the text, to the juxtaposition of melodies, to the considerate use of three languages. Tragically, its message is all too current; I understand the composer dedicated the piece to the citizens of Aleppo. Apocolyptic and dissonant at the beginning, its end is hopeful and serene. The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir's performanc is a a tour de force--not uncommon for this group--and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Children's Choir offer sensitive and accomplished presentations as well. This composer has a stellar future ahead of him, and certainly this piece will last as one of his most important works. It truly deserves attention.

This is a powerful work with a critically relevant message, and it is presented through the uniquely modern, fresh, eloquent voice of the composer--who is so well studied that his foundation elusively acknowledges the world's most prolific composers.

This piece is pure and full of emotion of our current situation in Syria. Raw, emotional, accessible for choir and orchestra, and beautiful piece!
