25 or more years ago I bought my late wife Cinema Serenade by Itzahk Perlman & John Williams. Those collections were arrangements by Williams of his own and other composers as well...like John Barry. I expected this collection to be sort of an extension of that but have found that while there is overlap (Sabrina & Far and Away) many of these settings sound more concerto-like than the Perlman album did. Don't get me wrong...both Perlman and Mutter are A-List violinists...it's the settings that are somehow more serious. This group leans more to the classical side of "crossover" than the Cinema Serenade albums did. I think what I got from the included video is that Mutter and Williams were introduced to one another by André Previn...who was Mutter's husband at the time and who preceded John in the world of Hollywood soundtracks. Anne-Sophie & John seem to have tons of mutual respect for one another. This is a great album which I shall listen to frequently...but it is NOT a pop album...it's a much more serious enterprise than that. Williams opined that Mutter is the "greatest violinist produced by [Germany] in the last hundred years." I hadn't thought in those terms before, but I believe he is right. Highly recommended. PS: I wish the digital booklet of the cheaper album had been included.
  • I sort of like Yoda's theme?

But I CERTAINTLY wont buy it. Lindsey Stirling is better.
  • Always enjoy more John Williams

Why didn’t this expanded version of the album get released at the same time as the regular version?
