Dolly did not need to “cash in” by releasing this song. Just making that statement shows that you do not know Dolly or her giving spirit.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she hadn’t already written it before his passing because she knew the end was coming. Recording a song is not that difficult these days nor releasing it quickly.
Knowing Dolly’s history, she is probably donating any royalties from the single to a charity related to her husband or the his illness.
