This is music that if Edward Christopher Sheeran listened to he would never be able to pickup a guitar 🎸 again .. or jump off a building 😂
Just amazing!

It's a crime not to like this!
Clearly lesser in all ways, but more upbeat

I presume people rate this so highly because it’s not so soul-crushing sad. In 9 Damien’s poetry is lesser, his eloquence is lesser, his compositions reduced in harmony, and his brilliant use of duet is more from habit than structure. This album sounds like people I hear playing guitars at coffee shops. Fun to listen to, yes, but harmless. Harsh refrains are not enough to elevate this from elevator music. Anger is easy.

It pulls at my soul. I love this album.
Better than "O" in my opinion

I liked "O" but the first song I heard from Damien Rice was Rootless Tree (Abbey Road Version) and I liked the way his voice sounded. It was filled with emotion, a lot more than "O" which I bought after I got this. This compared to that last album is 100x better, but that's my personal opinion. I think it's best to not be redundant in your work because people will get sick of the same old thing so it's good that he changed it up in this album.
Really

Grey Room is one of the most honest and debatably beautiful songs ever written.

...that seems to be pointed to as the worst on the album, Sleep Don't Weep, is in my opinion, the most daring and beautiful. It is ART. It's not meant as music to multi-task to. It is not meant as an "easy" song. The quiet is YOUR time to reflect, to absorb, to apply your own life (with your own sorrow and beauty) to his music. It is a gift.
