The artist as perfection

I just heard tonight Philippe Jaroussky and the Venice Baroque Orchestra in concert, live at Weill Hall in Sonoma. Double ecstasy: I discover Nicola Porpora wrote amazing arias, and I hear an artist who delivers excellence like it flows on tap. I don't have the technical terms to describe his performance, the emotion and the perfection (which he produces seemingly effortlessly, and so elegantly.) I just know what pleasure I received from every note he sang. His singing takes the listener into another stage of emotion, where art and beauty and youth all combine to make you cry. Oh the perfection of it, and the ephemerality of such peak. I am buying this CD to recapture this moment in time. Listen to "Alto Giove" and float.
