  • Weird sounds in the background

What are these strange sounds in the background sometimes? The interpretation is just beautiful but these weird sounds annoy me, unfortunately.

I was looking around for a smoother sounding Nocturne E-Flat Major Op.9 No.2 and finally found it! Sounds amazing! I use it for my alarm on the iPad and I have to say, waking up never felt so refreshing! Very soothing, Thank you :)
  • Check out E Minor

It's all good, but E Minor appeared on an episode of Voyager played by 7 of 9. Shazam picked it up and directed me to Chopin…and my love affair of this album was born. Cheezy, I know, but sometimes it takes a clever music editor for quasi-popular TV to educate an otherwise blithely unaware public about the virtues of exquisite, otherworldly music like this album. Well worth the $12 in peaceful return on investment, over and over again.

My favorite solo piano album. I own many different interpretations of the nocturnes, but none hold a candle to this--esp. the b flat minor...kills me every time. I keep coming back to it and have a feeling I always will. Everything, from the haunting tone of the piano to the beautiful, fluid playing, is absolutely perfect. Love love love it.

Other reviewers before me have expressed what is so beautiful about these performances of Chopin's brilliant Nocturnes. I just figured it couldn't hurt to add one more voice expressing how haunting and thrilling this recording is. My grandfather (I've never met anyone besides him who had such an encyclopedic knowledge of classical recordings) gave me these on CD telling me that I would not find a better recording of the Nocturnes. Fortunately I discovered someone selling old LPs at a stoop sale in Brooklyn and snatched these up on vinyl in perfect condition for $1! It was a very happy day.

I've been enamored with Chopin's nocturnes for a few years now, and these are some of the best interpretations I've heard. Everything is pretty clear and pronounced. There are a few tempos I don't agree with but overall, Freddy Choppin' would be very proud. My favorites are the ones in D flat major (a slower interpretation that ones I've heard before, but nice) and C minor. I definately recommend this album! Does anyone know why there isn't a nocturne in A or A minor? He's got every other tonic covered.

Here ladies and gentlemen, is the definative recording of Chopin's Nocturnes - better than Rubenstien, Pires, Arrau....this is it. Moravec is a master of these. The occational humming we here on the disc betrays the fact that Moravec more that any other (in my opinion) has internalized these piece and made them his own. He strings each phrase along with such grace and clarity and fluidity as if to make one wonder why no one had thought to do it the way he does all along. Buy these recordings, they are masterful.
