There's a fine line between respecting your influence, and being self-indulgent. This is the LATTER. Complete crap that die hard fans will gush over.
  • Never mind this buy The Primus album where they cover Willy Wonka

No, it's not cutting edge. No, it's not worth your time. I have finally heard it all: Miley Cyrus "singing" the most brilliant rock song ever written, which is " A Day in The Life". I thought life was crazy before, but this takes the cake. Pure , vile garbage. I disagree ; John actually is rolling over in his grave.

...please let this be the bottom of TFL's career slump. Maybe you could lock the door next time the Good Idea Fairy comes knocking?

These interpretations are too weird for my taste. Miley Cyrus sings great, though.

First off, I’m a huge Beatles fan, ask anyone. That being said, I love cover songs and I don’t think any artist is off limits to cover. I am even open to experimental covers that may be drastically different from the original. However, there is a simple condition to which all my music must conform: it must sound good to me. In my opinion this album, despite it’s good intentions, falls short of that requirement. The mixing is all over the place, the guest vocals are hit or miss and the use of autotune on a Beatles cover album should be illegal. I understand they were trying to play up the trippy production of the original, but for me it misses the mark in a big way.

Call me a hipster, but I absolutely love this. Really gives that "crash" I've always wanted out of music, probably why I like their cover of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" so much. So cool. But with that said for you buyers out there, definitely not for everyone. It's fine and reasonable if you don't like it, very bizarre.
  • A Really One Dimensional Cover

I have no problem that they remade it, but the work they did was shoddy. Really one-dimensional stuff that really misses the mark of why the original album was so good. Sgt. Pepper’s wasn’t amazing because the music was catchy or trippy (although, that helped), it was amazing because of the editing and studio work The Beatles did. It was a marvel of storytelling done through a fully realized set of characters and use of audio. This cover album is literally just as much noise they could jam in as possible.

I know what i’m about to write is short wishing for satan to take over the world. This offering by The Lips is far better than the original by The Beatles. Yes, I’ve said it and i’m happy i did, a feeling of the weight of the world has rolled of my shoulders. Anyway, their take in this album, as well all of there others, is filled with humor, silliness and an understanding that art can be many things to many people as well as many things to any one unique person. The Lip are true artists that are willing to scream in your ear, jump on and down on you desk and piss on you while it is raining inside. Thank God for their ever challenging ambition and not giving a f**k for what others thing. Hooray for all the artists out there!!!!
